Measure A is projected to raise $280 million dollars over the next 10 years.
The city has promised to use most of the money to hire as many as 120 police officers and use the rest to keep city services like libraries and parks in operation.
Voter turnout was light...only about 25 percent of registered voters cast ballots.
But voters like Kurt Skinner felt this was an important election.
"I think it's a very important issue, we need to scrap our way out of bankruptcy, improve the services of the city, and sustain what we have.
Stockton voters also approved companion Measure B which will give the public a voice on how the money generated by Measure A will be spent.
