The annual Folsom Rodeo Cattle Drive has been cancelled this year because of the extreme heat.
Dan Haverty with the Folsom Chamber of Commerce says the event organizers met with the city manager and fire department and decided it was not in the public’s best interest to hold the drive tomorrow night as planned.
“We considered doing it the following morning, but at this late date, the logistics of doing that are almost impossible.”
Haverty says the rodeo will continue Thursday through Saturday with free water, misters, and additional shaded space for visitors. He says the paddock for the animals has also been redesigned with more drinking water for the animals and misters for them as well.
It is the first time the cattle drive has been cancelled in its 17-year history.
