CAPRADIO REIMAGINED
For the past 40 years, we have steadily expanded our news, music and arts coverage on-air, online and in-person to meet the growing needs of the communities we serve. CapRadio Reimagined is the campaign that will allow us to grow our content offerings and the staff needed to meet the demand, contribute our energy and creativity to the renewal of downtown Sacramento, provide fuel for the creative economy and much more.
CapRadio Live
Construction on our new downtown venue at 1010 8th St, now named CapRadio Live, is underway. The venue, featuring the Sutter Health Stage, will be a gathering space focused on amplifying community engagement, creativity and diversity in the region.
Originally set to open in fall 2022, an electrical safety issue that the building owner must resolve has delayed the opening of CapRadio Live. While we're disappointed with the delay, we remain dedicated to making this beautiful space accessible to our community as soon as possible.
Our best estimate for the public opening of the venue is fall 2023. We’ll share updates on the project as they occur, but in the meantime, check out this timelapse video of the construction for CapRadio Live below.

CapRadio HQ
Our new headquarters at 730 I St is developing at a rapid pace. This space will address current and future staff needs, and we are designing it to accommodate the new reality brought on by the pandemic. The CapRadio HQ will offer a flexible workplace environment with remote-friendly capabilities that keep staff connected, engaged and productive.
Occupying the second and third floors of the building, we’ll have 29,000 sq. ft of workspace and the security required for a media organization in these times. Other notable features include:
- new offices and collaboration space;
- new studios and production facilities;
- a welcoming lobby;
- a layout that makes sense for modern workflows; and
- secure parking for our staff.
We're excited to announce that construction is on schedule and we're planning our first group of staff to move into the new HQ by the first quarter of 2023. We can't wait!
KXPR Tower
After over a decade of trying to move the KXPR Tower to achieve a better signal, we have finally secured a location that puts the signal right in the heart of Sacramento County. As of summer 2022, orders for the transmitter, transmission lines, antenna, transmitter building and tower fabrication have all been submitted. We are hopeful that listeners of our music station will enjoy a much cleaner and clearer signal by summer 2023.
CapRadio Endowment
For over 30 years, the CapRadio Endowment has allowed us to innovate and expand our programming while helping us weather the ups and downs of the economy. When new ideas and opportunities arrive, we look to the Endowment to help us respond and fund key initiatives. Bolstering the Endowment means building our capacity to create innovative content.
Next Steps
While we've navigated through the challenges of the pandemic and adapted to a "virtual" environment, our campaign has moved forward. We’re excited to share our story and we’ll continue to share updates and progress toward CapRadio Reimagined.
CapRadio is an integral part of our lives and our community. Through our campaign contributions, we feel we’re investing in the future of the station and ultimately our community on many levels.
